Believe in the Magic!

Front and center on the mantle, there it is....Believe in the Magic. I love this message about the Christmas season, for there is magic in the littlest, smallest places. Take time out for yourself to find some magic this season. What ever it is that brings you joy.
Don't get caught up in following the crowds, do what individually makes you happy and find the true MAGIC of the Holidays.

This above all: To thine own self be true.....

Everything is inspiration...

I love this quote, Everything is inspiration. It truly is when you stop to really give it some thought. The thing you might see as random and small could indeed inspire you to something great. My inspiration for this hand painted wallet was a feather laying on the ground. Some fallen feather...from where...what kind of bird..how big was it..what did it look like? And then I thought it doesn't matter, I'm going to paint the feather for what it is. What an inspiration.
I love the word Abundance, so I was inspired to use Chinese lettering to convey the word "abundance."
My wish for you today is abundance and inspiration.

Happy Day After Thanksgiving!

Here it is the day after Thanksgiving or "Black Friday." I'm not seeing the shopping frenzy here in CO? We went out amongst them today, every store seemed really civil.
It was quite nice.
Our son Josh and his wife Wedny were here visiting from Roseville, CA. We had a nice time. We toured Celestial Seasonings tea and the Leanin' Tree museum. I wish the rest of the family could have been here...we had our first ever split up Thanksgiving :(
It will make us appreciate being together at Christmas all the more.
Happy Day After Thanksgiving!!

Oskar Blues Brewery and Family

This week we had the unexpected pleasure of our dear neice from FL passing through CO on a sales call, visit us for the evening. Although it wasn't enough time with our sweet Ashley.
It was sooooo good to see her and hear about what's going on in her life. Ashley arrived in her FL/CA clothes.... she purchased a sweat shirt in the airport for warmth.
We went out to Oskar Blues for dinner then over to the micro brewery/tasting room after. My only wish is that we had more time together....until next time dear Ashley.
There is nothing more important then family, not money, not things, just time together with the ones we love. I love you Ashley... come back soon!

Don't touch my Junk!

Hello Friends, With all the attention in the Media on the guy who was going through security in San Diego who proclaimed to the TSA "Don't touch my Junk" I decided to create a hand screened tee shirt. Junk....a ship came to mind...sure enough, I looked it up, Junk is a Chinese sailing vessel. Well Ok then, A shirt with a big ship that says don't touch my junk, perfect. Although I'm sure that guy was refering to another kind of junk.
Hmmmm?

Fa La La La La.....

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas....Oh, I mean Thanksgiving. The snow is here in Colorado whether I like it or not. It makes for good Christmas ornament painting. Yesterday I sent out my annual Christmas ornament flyer. Every year, for at least the last 20-25 years I've been creating a new Santa, Angel, Snowman. Above are my 2010 designs. They're cut by me out of 1/8 thick Baltic Birch wood, sanded , painted, given a kiss of love, by me, Kathryn Greenwald. Personalized for extra special gifts. My #1 ornament collector is Mary Dougherty from Ohio. She has ornaments I can' t even remember I painted. Every year she orders one of each. Love Mary D.
You may purchase them through my Etsy store..

My daughter and I have been on a quest for the perfect choclate chip cookie recipe ever since I miss placed my best ever recipe several years ago. I think I've found one worthy.
When I put this together the only thing I tweeked was a little less baking soda and a little more flour since I'm at a higher altitude. So I'm sharing...here it is a Southern Living recipe. Enjoy!!

Prep: 30 min., Bake: 14 min. per batch, Cool: 15 min. Bake 10 minutes for a soft and chewy cookie or up to 14 minutes for a crisp cookie.

Yield: Makes about 5 dozen

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups plus 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 (12-oz.) packages semisweet chocolate morsels

Parchment paper

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Beat butter and sugars at medium speed with a heavy-duty electric stand mixer until creamy. Add eggs and 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, beating until blended.

2. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl; gradually add to butter mixture, beating just until blended. Beat in morsels just until combined. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

3. Bake at 350° for 10 to 14 minutes or until desired degree of doneness. Remove to wire racks, and cool completely (about 15 minutes).

Flavor Cravings: All sorts of goodies can be added to Rebecca's recipe to create other signature cookies. Here are a few of our staff favorites.

Chocolate Chip-Pretzel Cookies: Prepare recipe as directed, beating in 2 cups coarsely crushed pretzel sticks with morsels.

Cranberry-White Chocolate Cookies: Substitute 1 (12-oz.) package white chocolate morsels, 1 (6-oz.) package sweetened dried cranberries, and 1 cup pistachios for chocolate morsels. Proceed as directed.

White Chocolate-Covered Pretzel Cookies: Prepare recipe as directed, beating in 1 (7-oz.) bag white chocolate-covered mini pretzel twists, coarsely crushed, with morsels.

Almond-Toffee Cookies: Substitute 6 (1.4-oz.) chopped chocolate-covered toffee candy bars and 1 1/2 cups toasted slivered almonds for chocolate morsels. Proceed as directed.

Turtle Cookies: Substitute 1 (7-oz.) package milk chocolate-caramel-pecan clusters, coarsely chopped, and 1 (12-oz.) package dark chocolate morsels for semisweet chocolate morsels. Proceed as directed. Note: For testing purposes only, we used Nestlé Turtles.

Nutty Peanut Butter-Chocolate Chip Cookies: Decrease salt to 1/2 tsp. Decrease morsels to 1 (12-oz.) package. Add 1 cup creamy peanut butter with butter and sugars, and add 1 cup lightly salted peanuts with morsels. Increase flour to 2 1/2 cups plus 2 Tbsp. Proceed as directed. (Dough will look a little moist.)

(me and my sweet baby boy Ian in Maui)
Happy Sunday! I'm blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people in my life. Today I'm thinking about all the peaceful people I know. My son Ian has always had a big heart and is one of the most peaceful people that bless my life. Today extend a little kindness, you'll be amazed how it will come back to you in a positive way.

You get world peace through inner peace. If you've got a world of people who have inner peace, then you have a peaceful world.
